Mesothelioma is a cancer of the lungs and chest wall commonly caused by too much exposure to asbestos. In some cases, Mesothelioma may occur in the coating of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) or the bag enclosing the heart (pericardium).
Based on studies made, people who worked in areas with asbestos were likely to inhale the dust particles thereby becoming highly susceptible to Mesothelioma. Due to the dust particles, these workers also exposed the people who washed their clothes to Mesothelioma.
Warning signs include shortness of breath and weight loss which may appear from twenty to fifty years following the contact with asbestos.
