Mesothelioma Prevalence
Mesothelioma prevalence is quite variable. About 3 out of 4 mesotheliomas are found in the chest cavity. These are called Pleural Mesotheliomas as they affect the tissue that lines the lungs.
Another 10%-20% begin in the abdominal cavity. These are called Peritoneal Mesotheliomas as they affect the tissue that lines the abdominal cavity.
Those appearing around the heart are very rare known as Pericardial Mesothelioma.
This cancer can also begin in the tissue around the testicles or reproductive organs, but this is also very rare.
