Peritoneal mesothelioma stages
No established staging system for peritoneal mesothelioma exists so far. If peritoneal mesothelioma is staged it is done according to the TNM system. The TNM system is the staging system is the most commonly used staging system in cancer. The TNM system describes the extent of the primary tumor size (T), the absence or presence of nearby lymph nodes involvements (N), and the absence or presence of distant metastases (M).
T- Denotes the tumor size
N – Tells about presence or absence of lymph nodes involvement as well as their number.
M – Tells about the presence of absence of distant metastasis or distant spread of the mesothelioma.
